Elementary Curriculum Overview

Applying the California Common Core State Standards for English & Math and Next Generation Science Standards for Science, the elementary curriculum at our primary school is designed to strengthen student abilities in core subjects and help them become articulate and well-rounded throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond. We have state-of-the-art classrooms, providing our children with a learning environment that allows them to explore their full potential.

As one of the leading American elementary schools in Ajman, our program adopts a multitude of resources to ensure key standards are accessible for all types of learners. Through teaching, learning, and innovation, we intend for students to develop multiple literacies that support quality learning, personal growth, problem-solving, and future readiness for holistic development.

City American School, recognized among the top providers of elementary education curriculum in the UAE, offers English, Math, Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Education, Art, Language, and Music.

Arabic, Islamic Education, and Social Studies follow the Ministry of Education curriculum.

English is the language of instructions in all subjects. 

Phonics: Phonics reading helps students, particularly ESL learners, associate the sounds of letters in the words they study to improve their reading skills. Starting from kindergarten curriculum through Grade 5, CAS provides a structured pathway to learning. For the academic year 2025, CAS continues to expand, offering more grade levels to meet the growing demand for high-quality American education.

ESL students (English as a Second Language)

The Literacy Program at our English private school accelerates students’ English language skills in reading and writing.

Response to intervention RTI: An approach to identify students with learning and behavior needs. The RTI process starts with high-quality instruction and screening of all students.

Arabic Language and Islamic studies are obligatory courses for all Arab Students. 

Arabic B for non- Arabic nationality students: Arabic as a Second Language follows the MOE curriculum.

Islamic Studies in English follows the MOE curriculum

Social Studies in English follows the MOE curriculum

CAS Inclusion Department

At CAS, we have an Inclusion Department with a qualified coordinator and a team of primary school teachers to support students with learning difficulties. During entrance examinations, a thorough brief is provided to parents. This contributes to placing us among the most reliable American elementary schools in Ajman.

French Language is available from Grade 1 to Grade 5.

In addition, we maintain a balance of internal and external assessments. CAS remains committed to the UAE Vision 2021 – National Agenda Parameters and beyond, actively participating in global benchmarks and external assessments such as:
